DONATE
We believe local news drives civic engagement. The Local News staff are volunteering their time and expertise because they know our towns will be more connected with a community newspaper. The many things we have in common are far easier to see if we can read about and participate in community activities – and thereby understand all the things we share.
Your initial donation will pay for the web hosting, software, insurance and outreach that is getting us started. To be sustainable, we ultimately need a paid editor/reporter to lead our volunteers. Sufficient donations will allow us to provide you with a print version of The Local News.
If it’s important to you to have a local source of news, please donate by sending a check to The Local News, PO Box 135, Kennebunk, ME 04043, or completing the online donation form at right (or below if you are reading this on your phone).
Please understand that transparency is a core element of journalism, and to uphold this, The Local News will list donors by name in our annual report. To protect donors’ financial privacy, we will not disclose the amount of their contribution.
Thank you for your support! And remember, your donation doesn’t just give YOU access to The Local News – it gives EVERYONE access to The Local News.
If you have questions, please let us know at admin@thelocalnewsonline.org.
Is my donation tax-deductible? The Local News has applied to the IRS for 501(c)(3) status but has not yet received approval. Should approval be granted – and we are not aware of any circumstances that would disqualify us – your donation may be eligible for a tax deduction for 2026, depending on your tax status. We’ll be letting all donors know immediately once we receive word from the IRS.
