How Kennebunkport residents voted on ballot questions

Kennebunkport voters said yes to all four questions on their town ballot this year.

Question 1: Changes to the town’s Land Use Ordinance

Citizens voted yes on this measure, which changes which town officials review certain types of development and land-use applications. The measure moves approval of some applications for conditional uses from the Zoning Board of Appeals to either the Planning Board or the Code Enforcement Officer. A yes vote also confirms the language regarding the number of people required at a Zoning Board of Appeals Meeting in order to make a decision.

Yes votes: 1,692; No votes: 707

Question 2: Amendment to land use ordinance regarding home occupations

Citizens voted yes on this measure, which changes the definition of home occupations, splitting them into Type A, occupations that do not generate traffic, for example a graphic designer, and Type B, occupations that generate traffic, for example a daycare, which would have more potential to affect neighbors. A Type A application would be reviewed by the Code Enforcement Officer, and a Type B application would be reviewed by the Planning Board.

Yes votes: 1,499; No votes: 547

Question 3: Amendment to the Special Events an Mass Gatherings Oordinance

Citizens voted yes on this measure, which allows the town to legally provide funding for three events: Fourth of July, Memorial Day and a portion of Winter Prelude.

Yes votes: 2002; No votes: 516

Question 4: Funding for Winter Prelude 2026

Citizens voted yes on this measure, which stipulates that the town will fund a total of $17,500 in town support services for this year’s Winter Prelude. Historically the town has funded approximately twice this amount.

Yes votes: 1,645; No votes: 530
