Bangor Savings Bank Kicks Off Annual Peanut Butter and Jelly Drive

Donated food will support Community Outreach Services Food Pantry

As kids go back to school, Bangor Savings Bank is holding a peanut butter and jelly drive to strengthen food security programs in local communities.

All jars collected through September will go to the Community Outreach Services (COS) Food Pantry. Donations may be made at any Bangor Savings Bank branch and for each jar received, Bangor Savings Bank will donate an additional jar of peanut butter or jelly.  Considering peanut and other nut allergies, seed butter and allergy-friendly alternatives are welcome.

This year COS is celebrating its 35th anniversary of neighbors helping neighbors in Arundel, Kennebunk and Kennebunkport who face challenges with food, fuel and essential needs.  COS provides food for close to 300 households/families each month. The COS Food Pantry is unique in that impacted neighbors can select foods that best meet their needs and preferences.

“We are incredibly grateful to Bangor Savings Bank and our community for stepping up during this back-to-school season. No child should have to worry about an empty stomach when they are trying to focus on their education, and these donations directly impact our local families in need,” said Mark Jago, Executive Director, Community Outreach Services.

“At Bangor Savings Bank, we believe strong communities are built when neighbors help neighbors. Our annual Peanut Butter and Jelly Drive is a simple but meaningful way for people to support local families facing food insecurity. We are proud to partner with Community Outreach Services and invite everyone to join us in helping ensure local households have access to nutritious food,” said Ashley Winslow, Branch Manager II, Bangor Savings Bank.
