KENNEBUNK — This autumn, local creativity is in full bloom at the Brick Store Museum through its inaugural Gorgeous Gourds project. Inspired by celebrated public art initiatives like Washington, D.C.’s Party Animals, the Museum invited artists of all ages, skill levels, and backgrounds—from eager amateurs to seasoned professionals—to transform simple, reusable craft pumpkins into original, handcrafted works of art.
Throughout the month of October, these one-of-a-kind autumn creations are on public display integrated directly into the Museum’s gallery exhibitions, offering visitors a festive, seasonal twist alongside local history and culture.
“The response from our creative community has been vibrant and inspiring,” said Executive Director Cynthia Walker. “The Gorgeous Gourds project celebrates the imagination of local artists while giving our visitors a unique way to experience the galleries this fall.”
The exhibition will culminate in a special grand finale on Thursday, October 29, during the Museum’s popular Of Séances & Spirits event. During the evening, all featured pumpkins will be showcased in an exclusive silent auction. Event attendees will have the unique opportunity to bid on and take home their favorite miniature masterpieces just in time for Halloween.
All proceeds raised through the Gorgeous Gourds silent auction directly support the Brick Store Museum’s year-round arts programming, historical preservation, and educational initiatives within the community.
