KITTERY – Robert Allison Arnaudin, 93 years of age, passed away peacefully at his home in Kittery on Thursday, May 14, 2026, surrounded by the warmth of his family.
Born on July 17, 1932, to Edwin Henry and Margaret Lane (Bross) Arnaudin, Robert’s story began with a foundation of duty. After graduating from Westwood High School in New Jersey, he answered the call of his country, serving as a Sergeant in the US Army during the Korean War and Drill Sergeant post war. His post-service years took him to the heights of the New York City and New Jersey skyline, where he worked as a high-rise window washer, before he eventually traded the skyscrapers for the rugged beauty of the Maine coast.
In 1977, Robert moved to Ogunquit, eventually settling in Wells and took to the open road as a truck driver for Kris Way Trucking. However, it was perhaps behind the wheel of a school bus for the Kennebunk-Kennebunkport-Arundel School System that he made his most lasting local impact, safely guiding generations of children until his retirement in 2016.
Outside of work, Robert found peace in the rhythms of the ocean and beauty of the outdoors. He was equally at home on a quiet golf course, fishing the streams and oceans of southern Maine or bird-hunting in the Maine woods. A man of simple but deep passions, he held a lifelong love for animals, classic cars and motorcycles, and the high-speed thrill of NASCAR, always rooting for his favorite driver, Bill Elliott.
Above all else, Robert was a pillar for his family. He lived for the moments spent together, and his presence was a fixture at his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events over the decades. He was a dedicated member of the Washington Township VFW, the North Berwick Rod and Gun Club, and the Bethel Christian Church in North Berwick.
Robert is predeceased by his loving wife of 48 years, Carole (Cropper) Arnaudin; his sons, Kenneth and Matthew Arnaudin; his daughter, Deborah Arnaudin; his brother, Edward Arnaudin; and his first wife, Marjorie (Bates) Arnaudin.
He is survived by his son, Robert Arnaudin and his wife Patti Ann, of Barnegat Township, NJ; his daughter, Patricia Arnaudin of York, ME; his daughter, Christine Smith, and her husband Justin, of Berwick, ME; his daughter, Alison Osborn of Alfred, ME; his daughter, Suzanne Arnaudin of Skowhegan, ME; as well as 18 grandchildren and many great- and great-great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Monday, May 18, 2026, at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer Street, Kennebunk, ME. A funeral service will take place at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at Bibber Memorial Chapel in Kennebunk, followed immediately by interment at Hope Cemetery in Kennebunk.
